Northwest Legends – Brand Development & Visual Identity
NW Legends is a Portland-based nonprofit organization that began in a local church with a mission to teach fundamental basketball skills while developing young athletes into leaders both on and off the court. Their focus extends beyond the game, helping youth build character, confidence, and leadership skills that will serve them throughout high school and beyond.
As NW Legends continued to grow and gain recognition within the community, they sought a rebrand that reflected their vision and values. I developed a logo centered around a lion, symbolizing leadership, courage, and strength. The lion's head was intentionally designed with symmetry to evoke the look and prestige of an achievement emblem, reinforcing the organization's commitment to excellence.
Bold, confident linework emphasizes the lion's mane, representing growth, maturity, and the development journey each athlete undertakes. The gold color palette was selected to communicate a high standard of achievement and the level of excellence expected of every NW Legends athlete. Strong, highly legible typography ensures visibility across uniforms, merchandise, and promotional materials.
The resulting identity captures the spirit of NW Legends and serves as a visual representation of the organization's mission: to inspire, develop, and empower the next generation of leaders through the game of basketball.
